Cecily strong
Cecily Legler Strong, born February 8, 1984 is an American actor, comedian and producer. She is also a singer and comedian. Strong is most well-known for her work as an Saturday Night Live cast member between 2012 to 2022. She is the longest-running female cast member of the show's early years. Strong was recruited for SNL while performing improv in The Second City in Chicago in the city she later moved to after she graduated from CalArts. She currently has a starring role on the Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon! She co-produces the show (2021 to present).
Other roles include voice acting on The Awesomes (2013-2015), acting in supporting roles in films like Ghostbusters, The Meddler, and The Female Brain. She was also the host for the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2015. In 2021, her first book The Memoir This Will All Be Over Soon Soon, was published.
For her work in Saturday Night Live, she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the Comedy Series at the 72nd and the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Childhood and early life
Strong was born in Springfield Illinois and was raised in Oak Park (an inner-ring suburb of Chicago). She is the daughter of Penelope Strong and William "Bill" Strong, who were both Associated Press bureau chiefs and, as of 2013, ran their own PR company. Penny Legler Strong has extensive experience as a nurse and has worked in a variety of local hospitals. Strong's parents were divorced. Strong used to watch SNL with her mother as when she was a young child. She would recreate sketches with her friend and watch old SNL commercials on VHS. "I had an old tape with the best commercials, and I wore it every day." She's said she was inspired by Phil Hartman.
